Shockoe Solar was founded in 2007 by Bernie Stanley — before solar was mainstream, before the big national installers arrived, and before anyone was knocking on doors trying to sell you panels you didn't need.

Seventeen years later, we're still here. Still local. Still owner-operated. Every job we've ever done came from a referral or a returning customer. That's not a marketing strategy. That's a track record.

WHO WE ARE

Bernie Stanley is a Virginia Class A Licensed Contractor and Master Electrician — one of the few solar company owners in Central Virginia who holds both licenses personally. Our Class A license covers Alternative Energy Systems, Residential Building, Commercial Building, and Electrical — meaning we pull our own permits for every job, residential and commercial alike.

Most solar installers have to hire outside contractors just to pull a permit. We don't. That means faster timelines, cleaner accountability, and no markup passed on to you.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

Most solar companies are sales organizations that happen to install panels. We're an installation company that happens to be very good at helping customers make smart decisions.

We don't do door-to-door sales. We don't run social media ads. We use Aurora and Helioscope software with LIDAR-based 3D modeling to give you an accurate picture of your solar potential before you spend a dollar. If solar doesn't make sense for your property, we'll tell you.

Shockoe Solar offers our own 10-year craftsmanship warranty on all residential installations — in addition to manufacturer warranties on panels and inverters.
