Bernie Stanley

President

A native of Richmond with family in Hanover County, Bernie was educated at Bridgewater College (Bridgewater, VA), the University of Barcelona (Spain), and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, VA) in 1994 majoring in political science and international affairs.

He started Shockoe Solar in 2008 and has been working with solar energy systems for some time before.  His solar expertise is combined with over 10 years in custom construction, technology, and licensed real estate development.  As a Class A General Contractor, Bernie is intimately familiar – unlike much of the competition – with the integration of solar energy systems with architecture, building construction, roofing, and electrical systems.

Bernie is a certified SHARP solar energy module (panel) installer and he has participated in numerous solar energy training sessions and industry conferences.  In addition, Bernie is instructing continuing education courses for architects.

He is active in his local community through Shockoe Solar by supporting numerous community organizations (See Community) and by volunteering at his local Fire Department since 2001.  He is a strong supporter of family values and has always put his family first.
